DIY- loose & soft

1. use styling cream through out hair for added hold and texture
2. set hair in pin curls using a curling wand, set for 30 minutes
3. lightly finger comb the curls
4. pull hair to one side, leaving partial down and secure with a hair bungee
5. once the hair is tied, pull a large section of hair under the bungee hair band
6. softly pull some texture pieces out so the hair looks loose & soft
7. grab sections of the remaining partial hair and twist, then overlay it around the hair band
8. secure with hair spray and bobby pins

DIY- chic chigons

1. you will need a can of hair spray, comb, different sizes of bobby pins & and a hair band
2. curl the ends of the hair
3. lightly tease crown of head and set with hair spray
4. brush over teased hair with a flat brush
5. make sure top of hair is smooth and set with hair spray again
6. tie hair into a low pony tail & add some volume by lightly pulling hair up with  end of brush
7. re-tie  hair again, but this time don't pull hair entirely through the band 
8. cover the hair band with the remaining hair and use bobby pins to secure the chignon
9. set with hair spray & be very generous with it!

loving locks from mykala...

growing her hair out since the 6th grade, mykala made the bold decision to transform her look and cut off 18” of her beautiful blond hair to support the wonderful non-profit organization, locks of love . and we love her for it!

to give makayla a new fresh look, we gave her subtle highlights and a long a-line cut to frame her face. loose soft waves were created to show off the highlights and perfect an effortless style. we played up her eyes with hues of forest green, strong liner, lush lashes and kept everything else simple and natural. makayla’s inner beauty just shined...doesn’t the act of giving look so good on her!?!

as cali cuts makayla’s hair for the first time in 15+ years, our assistant, ace, provides emotional support through the transformative process. way to go mykala...you did it!

the leung twins by mimi & taylor

our talented and good friends, emily & jessica leung, founders of hey lady (wedding shoes designed for style and comfort) were looking to update their bio photos with some new photos to capture their bright personalities. we couldn't resist treating them to a beauty re-charge before capturing it all on camera. we started with a cut and color to help warm up their look and to add texture for ease of styling. for makeup, we used soft hues of peach and gray with emphasis on eyes by adding lush lush lashes! gotta love the lashes!

These beautiful rings emily & jessica wore was a gift to themselves when they had reached a milestone within their business. What a great idea?! Hmmn, think we're overdue for a milestone gift...! :)

helen's 1950s inspired look

inspired by the 1950’s feminine and demure era, helen was the perfect candidate to showcase the beauty of that decade. back in those days, women wore softly curled hair, gorgeous lipstick, defined eyeliner, and rosy cheeks which we emulated in helen’s makeover. we warmed her hair up with a rich auburn color to compliment her fair skin tone and styled her wardrobe in a modern version of the times. she looked absolutely gorg!
